History

The Sunday night before my first VMworld I had nothing planned. I didn’t know the area, and I wished there was something organized to do. Sunday night has always been about vendor dinners and vendor parties. As every small customer out there knows, not everyone makes these invite lists.  I really wanted a more open, community focused event to look forward to.  A way to start talking with others about what they’re doing with the technology and relax after a long day of travel.

So for the last three years, I’ve helped organize an alternative venue to meet up and do just that. (I guess those crazy kids call it a tweetup now) It’s been great to meet other attendees, make new friends, see old friends, drink a few pints, and see what people are looking forward to in the coming week.

Three years ago in San Francisco, we met at Johnny Foley’s Irish House. Two year in Vegas it was at The Nine Fine Irishman Same great idea, good turnout.

Last year we broke the mold at the Thirsty Bear. With a crack team of party planning specialists, a pile of great sponsors, and a great venue, it was off the hook.  We identified some bugs to work out, and we’re getting geared up for this year.  Go check out what we did last year, and get ready.  This year is going to be crazy.
